Description

“Experience Nature and Wildlife during your Monarch Get-away!”

In the historic mining town of Garfield, Colorado, now known as Monarch for the ski area just up the mountain, you will find the tranquil  beauty that surrounds the Cliff-Edge Haven Cabin.

The Cliff-edge Haven comfortably accommodates  6 people with extra futon mattresses to squeeze in 2 more.  The full kitchen is equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave and a few necessities of food for our guests to enjoy at no extra charge.  Also included are satellite TV, Blu-Ray, DVD Surround Sound system, washer/dryer and ski equipment closet.

Sitting high up on the cliff, overlooking Monarch’s fork of the South Arkansas rolling river, the Cliff-edge Haven has a large deck which provides our guests a breathtaking view of the surrounding scenery of high mountains, tall aspens and pines. The windows in the living room and dining area bring this spectacular panorama indoors, both in sound and in view.  At night, the heavens shows off the many stars (especially the Milky Way) and the river’s soothing sound of constant rush of water are incredibly relaxing. Situated at 9,400 ft. above sea level, the stars seem closer, the air bit thinner, but crisp and pure.

Located near the Monarch Mountain Ski Area, and 5 minutes walking distance from the Monarch Mountain Lodge, the Cliff-Edge Haven gives our guests access to what we love about high country Colorado, no matter what the season. In the winter, the land provides various sports like powder snow-skiing which our guests can ski back to the cabin. Snowmobile rental and trail heads are right across the street from the Lodge.

During the spring, summer & fall, the surrounding area has many hiking opportunities – detailed maps provided. One of our favorites is the Old Monarch Pass Road (easily accessible from highway 50 approaching the new Monarch Pass), which crosses the Continental Divide and offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.

Within walking distance of the cabin across from the Lodge, there is a trail to a beautiful pond. Short hikes in every direction from the cabin through the brilliantly golden aspen landscape, is truly a memorable experience. In addition, a magnificent waterfall awaits you not far from the town of Maysville, just 7 miles down the road, where one could  be greeted by a pack of deer.  For more extreme hikes, there are several peaks over 14,000 ft.”Fourteeners” nearby.

Absolutely no smoking inside the cabin and pets are welcome only if they leave behind no trace of their stay.
